NiP survive Lemondogs scare

Ninjas in Pyjamas came from behind to beat Lemondogs two maps to one and secure a spot in the Svecup Västerås final.

Much to the disappointment of the community, the semi-finals pitted together NiP and Lemondogs, arguably the two favourites to win the tournament, while on the other half of the bracket Crave Gaming had to tackle Internetz.

With Marcus "Delpan" Larsson eager to prove his worth after being handed a trial, Lemondogs got off to a slow start on de_train_se, but still approached the second half with optimism as they were about to play on the CT side and could perfectly recover from a 10-5 deficit.

And that is exactly what happened. Lemondogs started winning round after round in the second half and eventually took the score to 15-13, but a good round from Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund put NiP back in the game and allowed them to equalise. In overtime, LD played a perfect game on the CT side, picking up all three rounds, and while playing as Terrorists they got the one round they needed to walk away with a 19-17 win.

On de_dust2_se, NiP, who started off on the Terrorist side, took the opening three round, but Lemondogs responded right after and reduced the deficit to 3-2. The remainder of the first half was practically a one-team show, however, as NiP took control of proceedings to secure a comfortable 11-4 lead. The second half followed the same trend, as the ESWC champions picked up a 16-5 victory to level the tie on one map.

The final map was de_mirage_go, and here the fight was very even for most of the first half, as neither side could stamp their authority on the game. But after being down 9-6 at the break, NiP came out strongly from the interval and turned the score around, winning the map 16-10 to progress to the final.

NiP are now through to the Grand Final of Svecup Västerås, in which they will tackle Crave Gaming, who boast player like Erik "zende" Sundequist and Gustav "KAB0M" Runemalm.
